$165,000 Settlement Secured in Police Misconduct Case
April 29, 2011 -- Wil Rogers, III recently secured a settlement of $165,000 on behalf of four former local college students as a result
of a traffic stop by a police officer in a southeastern Massachusetts town. The police officer approached the vehicle with his gun drawn. When the driver expressed reservation
about exiting his vehicle, the police officer pulled the driver out of the vehicle, assaulted him, and placed him into handcuffs. When the
other occupants of the vehicle expressed concern for the driver, the officer allegedly drew his gun again and threatened them.
The driver was arrested and charged with failing to drive with his lights on, failing to stop for a police officer and resisting arrest. He was released on
personal recognizance the same night. The criminal charges were subsequently dismissed. A civil rights lawsuit was filed in Federal Court. After discovery
was undertaken, a settlement of $135,000 was secured for the driver. The other three occupants of the vehicle each secured settlements of $10,000.

Defense Verdict on Behalf of Property Owner
March 7, 2011 -- Megan Grew of The Rogers Law Firm successfully defended a commercial property owner and its Director of Maintenance
in a lawsuit brought by a woman claiming severe injuries from an alleged property defect. A Norfolk County Superior Court jury returned a verdict in
favor of the property owner and the Director of Maintenance.
Settlement on Behalf of Business Owner in Dispute with Equipment Broker
February 26, 2011 -- Megan Grew of The Rogers Law Firm successfully settled a breach of contract case on behalf of a business owner in a dispute with an equipment broker. The owner alleged that the broker breached a broker agreement with the owner when he failed to timely deliver certain office equipment.
